Melting Point Of Petrol

Lust for Life

Lust for Life (1956), dir. Vincente Minnelli

Biographical drama about van Gogh - painter, known not only from the immense talent and skill, but also that the cut off the left ear. This is not the best film Minnellego, the more I liked it less well-known film, war drama The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (1962) with Glenn Ford, but the role of the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh is probably the best performance Kirk Douglas. Great actor Vincent showed great commitment, first as a preacher, then as an outstanding painter, fascinated by a new style called Impressionism. Van Gogh became a genius only after his death, had bad luck in life and wherever he appeared disconcerted people together. He survived the heartbreak, and soon became involved with the woman, but van Gogh's life style has led to the disintegration of that relationship. The money that he sent his brother, Vincent dedicate the paint and canvas. Soon he met Paul Gauguin, another brilliant painter, but their friendship does not lasted a long time - again, gave of himself to know the quirks, eccentricity and explosive nature of van Gogh, which each lead to madness.

impersonator Paul Gauguin, Anthony Quinn, he got an Oscar for a brief supporting role. This is one of the shortest Oscar award-winning actor roles (also brief roles are Oscar Beatrice Straight and Judi Dench.) Oscar Quinn is fully deserved, since arguments between Paul Gauguin and Vincent van Gogh is the best moments throughout the film. Anthony Quinn, in addition to acting, he was also painting and sculpture, So perhaps that's why he was able to credibly play a passionate artist. It is known that none of the actors are not painted in this movie any image, but you can believe that both actors would be able to paint a brilliant picture, as seen in their commitment and enthusiasm for artistic work. The film impressed me in this text, I focused on the game of acting, because I believe that the film owes its success to the actors, rather than directed and based on the facts of history. Passion for life shown through work-Impressionist painters in the film was presented Minnellego firmly in the Hollywood style. In terms of implementation it is difficult to attach to something, but hardly anything is also delighted. But such a genre (biography), from which you should not demand too much.

pictures can be distinguished, for which they were responsible Russell Harlan and Freddie Young. The pictures are not as original as Impressionist paintings, but very well show the beauty of the landscape that has captivated painters. A set design, which was founded in the natural landscape of the Netherlands and France, moves the viewer in a great environment nineteenth-century artists. Characterization is not too elaborate - if Kirk Douglas as it looks like, what the self-portrait Van Gogh, it's more like Anthony Quinn, Mexican revolutionary than the French painter. I think Minnellego Lust for Life should not disappoint the audience, because this film is exactly what ought to be, each and every interesting part of the biography was presented, some of the themes treated superficially, others more deeply, and the end result is above average. For me that was enough, but rather the film do not come back.
